Reflection

Yes people, I hope you are all well! This is my final blog before Christmas break, and I am going to be reflecting on my semester, specifically the workshop I took part in for Digital Economy, in college.  For anyone that has been reading since day 1 (I know who you guys are) you would have seen different topics that I touch on week on week. These were the same topics that I studied in class. I found blogging about the topics afterwards enabled me to learn more and retain what my lecturer spoke about.  We were faced with the challenge of preparing and executing a workshop for our class. This began with us making a group of five. Firstly, we learned what a Gantt Chart was, and created our own. This showed a breakdown of the different parts of the project we each did and if it was individual work or team work. I found it really satisfying to see the different pieces of it come together.  Our topic for the workshop was "Enterprise Applications" and we were the first group up...

E-commerce and Internet Technologies

Welcome back to today's blog guys! Today I'm going to dive into the topic of E-commerce and Internet Technologies. As we all know, thanks to COVID, E-commerce has absolutely skyrocketed and taken over. I am going to give you guys a ranking of some of the best platforms that you can use for E-commerce, so anybody looking to start an E-commerce business or improve on theirs, listen up.

I'm going to give some examples also to try and show the idea into a reality. I will use a new gym, a new clothing boutique and a new cafe.

Starting off with the holy grail of E-commerce is Shopify. I feel that this is the very first thing that comes into people's heads when E-commerce is mentioned, and there is a reason for it. Shopify is applicable to any business. It's versatility and user friendly E-commerce platform is what makes is attractive for businesses. It's robust features allow for inventory management, bookings, and payments, whilst providing real-time data insights.

Let's look at our scenarios with Shopify:

A New Gym:
A gym's needs are perfectly aligned with what Shopify can offer. Its user friendly design includes an App Store where booking apps can help make organising classes, memberships, reservations and sales of equipment so much easier. The platform's integration with payment gateways ensures secure transactions, which customers and clients will be thrilled about.

A New Clothing Boutique:
Shopify offers an extensive range of templates that are customisable and tools designed specifically for businesses in the retail sector. The platform shows real time data insights on customer behavior, controls inventory and facilitates a variety of payment methods. The AI capabilities of Shopify can enhance the customer's experience.

A Cafe:
Shopify's user friendly system can comprehend physical and digital product sales, including branded merchandise, which is great for the likes of a cafe. In person transactions can be made more efficient by using Point-of-Sale systems. As seen in the other businesses, real time insights aid inventory management and guaranteeing the more popular items are consistently in stock.

Shopify is a unique, all inclusive solution for E-commerce businesses. It's scalability and adaptability make it a great fit for all three businesses and on a broader scale, fits into each business sector. Shopify is a great option for those starting, and looking to expand due to its innovation, real time analytics and use of AI.

WooCommerce is a powerful E-commerce plugin for WordPress websites. It integrates seamlessly with WordPress sites.

A New Gym: WooCommerce integrates seamlessly with WordPress, providing a gym with flexible options for managing subscriptions, selling items and promoting classes. Its inventory management capabilities and support for various payment methods, making it very suitable for the likes of a gym.

A New Clothing Boutique: Boutique owners that are looking for a tailored online store may find WooCommerce as a great platform, due to its broad plugin and versatile design options. WooCommerce allows for detailed product variations, popular payment methods and supports inventory tracking.

A Cafe: As WooCommerce interacts easily with WordPress, it allows cafes to add an online store for coffee beans, pre packed food and merchandise, if available. It supports multiple payment options, staying in line with the cafe's brand.

My last example for today is Squarespace. Squarespace is an all-in-one inclusive website building and hosting platform, known for its user friendly platform and aesthetically pleasing templates. This is an ideal choice for businesses looking to fuse their E-commerce functionality and visually appealing website.

A New Gym: A gym looking to increase their online presence, without dealing with the hassles of a complex E-commerce platform should look at using Squarespace. It offers simplistic integration of class schedules, memberships, and sales. Due to minimal setup requirements, the gym can then concentrate on giving the best service possible. Squarespace's built-in payment processing ensures straightforward transactions, which customers will be happy with.

A New Clothing Boutique: Squarespace has simple set up instructions and visually pleasing designs, making it ideal for a clothing boutique. The platform supports product variation, secure transactions and inventory tracking. Boutique owners that are seeking a simplistic and user-friendly website will find the simplicity of Squarespace advantageous, even though it cannot boast the same level of customisation like WooCommerce.

A Cafe: Cafes that are looking to sell the likes of gift cards, pre made food and merchandise online should look into Squarespace. It offers great templates boosting the aesthetic of the website and therefore effectively showcasing their products. Cafes that are seeking an E-commerce platform should look into Squarespace in my opinion, as it is hassle free, due to its integrated inventory management and payment processing.

I hope you have enjoyed this insight into E-commerce and platforms within and if they do help you out, let me know!
